Beautiful DIY oil-to-milk face cleanser recipe

DIY oil-to-milk face cleanser – is it even possible to make it yourself? Well, in order to make this self-emulsifying oil you will need a particular type of ingredient, but, honestly, you can easily find it and yes, you can make your own 100% natural cleansing oil at home!

DIY oil-to-milk face cleanser

This product leaves your skin perfectly clean; it dissolves and removes make-up, dirt, and pollution from your skin without compromising its protective lipid layer.

To make a self-emulsifying oil, you will need a special ingredient – an emulsifier, that will help your oil to turn into a cleansing milk when mixed with water. This ingredient also helps wash away oils and dirt (because it binds oil and dissolved in it dirt and make-up to water).

I use an emulsifier Polyglyceryl-4-oleate (don’t be scared by its “chemical” name – it is a plant-derived, biodegradable, and COSMOS-certified ingredient). You can order it on different websites, in France I order it here.

DIY OIL-TO-MILK FACE CLEANSER FOR NORMAL TO OILY SKIN

This cleanser is formulated for normal-to-oily skin. I’ve chosen lightweight fractionated coconut oil and Jojoba oil and added calendula macerated oil and grapefruit oil to fight the impurities.

You  can get the recipe and full video tutorial in my short video:

CLEANSING OIL FORMULA

But you can create your self-emulsifying oils with different ingredients; just follow the ratio:

  • 83.8 – 88.8% of vegetable oils
  • 10-15% of polyglyceryl-4-oleate
  • 1% of essential oils
  • 0,2% of vitamin E

Vitamin E prevents oil oxidation, and keeps your DIY oil-to-milk face cleanser safe for a long period of time (you can store this oil for up to 6-9 months).

Apply this oil to your skin and dissolve the makeup and dirt with gentle massaging movements. Then add some water (it will transform the oil into milk) and wash it away, then use your toner (I have shared the recipe for homemade face toner here).

You can choose different oils depending on your skin type:

  • Dry and sensitive skin – you can use Jojoba oil as a base and add some beneficial oils (sweet almond oil, evening primrose oil, roman camomile macerated oil). I would also recommend adding lavender or geranium essential oil instead of grapefruit oil.
  • Acne-prone skin – grapeseed oil, hemp seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, evening primrose oil. Opt for tea tree essential oil instead of grapefruit oil.
  • Mature skin – Jojoba oil will work for your skin very well, and you could add Argan oil, Rosehip oil, or evening primrose oil. I like to add to my cleanser rose+jojoba macerated oil; it smells fantastic and takes good care of my mature skin:)
