Today, I want to share this very simple and pure recipe of DIY mom and baby body butter with all moms-to-be and moms of newborn angels! This body balm is pretty easy to make (even if you are a total newbie in DIY cosmetics), and it is an excellent alternative to industrial anti-stretch products.
DIY MOM AND BABY BODY BUTTER
This butter helps to prevent the appearance of stretch marks on your belly during pregnancy; it helps to increase the elasticity of your skin and moisturizes it (due to the high content of oleic fatty acid). It is absolutely safe to use during pregnancy, and the best part is that you can also take care of your newborn baby’s skin with it!
I started to use Mom and Baby Body Butter when I was 4 months pregnant – I applied it with massaging movements all over my belly right before going to bed and kept doing it till the very end of my pregnancy. Actually, it became a delightful routine which I enjoyed a lot 🙂 I don’t have any stretch marks left on my belly, and I believe that this massaging routine helped a lot.
WHAT IS IT MADE OF?
I use only 4 ingredients:
- high-quality shea butter (I use this one)
- homemade calendula infused oil (I make it with sweet almond butter)
- vitamin E (helps to protect our product from rancidity – I use this one)
- rice starch
Optionally, you can add a few drops of alfa-bisabolol, a naturally derived cosmetic ingredient that helps fight redness and skin irritations (in Europe you can order it here).
MAKING THE BUTTER
To make this DIY Mom and Baby Body Butter, you have to start with infusing sweet almond oil with dry calendula flowers. Calendula has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, and it is a great and 100% natural ingredient for mom&baby cosmetic products.
I show how to make this oil and how then proceed to stage 2 (making the butter) in my video tutorial:
The recipe for DIY mom and baby body butter:

- 12 g of calendula infused oil
- 1 g of rice starch
- 0,1 g of vitamin E (3 drops)

Enjoy!
