This solid body scrub bar is one of my favorite recipes! First – it is a zero-waste product; second – it is very gentle and leaves skin nice and silky, and third – it cleanses and exfoliates at the same time!
It is a “no-soap” product (it is non-irritating for the skin). You can find millions of “sugar cubes scrub,” but this bar is something different:)
This body scrub bar also makes a great DIY gift: it is easy to make, looks good and has a good aura – you take care of your skin and care for our planet! I love solid cosmetics, and make it a lot (check this Solid Hair Mask and Solid Face&Body Highlighter)
BODY SCRUB BAR
Technically speaking, this is not a 100% scrub but more of a “gommage” product – I use pink clay as a mild exfoliating agent and strawberry seeds as a more powerful one. Together they provide gentle but thorough exfoliation, polish your skin and bring back this glow!
I like to add a mild surfactant to this bar – I use Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI); it cleanses the skin gently without irritating it. It has lower pH than soap (around 6) and usually is very well tolerated even by sensitive skin. You can order it on Amazon.
You can take another clay (Moroccan, for example), and you can replace shea butter with another solid butter (mango, coconut). If you opt for coconut butter then add a little bit more of cacao butter – coconut is softer than shea, and you need to increase the number of solid ingredients, otherwise, your bar can melt.
I share the recipe and show how to make this bar in my short video tutorial (don’t forget to subscribe to my channel – I share a lot of short recipes and natural cosmetics video tutorials there:)
