DIY Solid Hair Mask (for strong and shiny hair)

This solid hair mask is a real treasure! It’s easy to make, looks beautiful, is an absolute “zero waste” product, is pleasant to use, smells delicious, and is reeeeeealy good for the hair!

It is a mixture of solid and liquid vegetable oils and herbal powders that provides deep moisturizing and hair conditioning. Melt the bar before use at low power in the microwave and then apply it to the hair like a regular oil mask – voila!

You can make this solid hair mask with different vegetable oils and add other herbal powders and essential oils.

A fantastic product as a gift for mom, sister, or girlfriend, a simple recipe for a lovely beauty ritual!

SOLID HAIR MASK WITH AYURVEDIC OILS AND POWDERS

I decided to make this solid mask with neutral henna and Kapoor Kachli Ayurvedic powder, which gives the hair an incredible shine:

  • 30 g shea butter (can be ordered here)
  • 10 g cocoa butter
  • 10 g liquid vegetable oil (I use sesame oil)
  • 0.4-1 g essential oils of choice (I use ylang-ylang essential oil and add 15 drops)
  • 0.2 g vitamin E
  • 30 g of powdered herbs (I added 20 g of colorless henna and 10 g of Ayurvedic powder Kapoor Kachli)

OTHER OILS AND HERBS YOU CAN USE

You can take different oils, but you have to remember that if you want your bar to remain solid at room temperature, it should contain at least 20% solid butter (cocoa, kokum, illip).

Shea butter can be replaced with coconut butter. Still, coconut is much softer than shea butter, so in this case, it is better to use a bit more cocoa butter (25 g coconut oil + 15 g cocoa butter, for example otherwise, the bar may be soft).

It is also a great idea to add amla macerated oil, argan oil, and jojoba oil to solid hair masks. You can add 3-5 g of castor oil (not more, otherwise, your mask will be very sticky and difficult to wash off the hair).

You can use different herbs; the most important thing is to grind them finely into a powder before adding them to the mask.

Nettle and rosemary for oily hair, sage, chamomile for blond hair, hibiscus and hibiscus for red or dyed chestnut hair with a red tint – a million options!

You can buy herbs at any pharmacy, turn them into powder and add them to your tile mask.
